Row Crop Pilot is a product line developed and distributed by Robot Makers for the purpose of optical row guidance. The machine is equipped with up to two laser scanners to detect objects in the environment. When row crop structures are detected, the system becomes ready and can be activated to keep the machine centered in the row. This assistance function (RCP assist) relives the driver a lot as keeping concentration high over the whole working day is very tiring.
In steep-slope applications, the driver further benefits from the fact that it is not longer required to sit on the machine. The driver can supervise the machine from a safe on the trailer or the tractor which is used to move the machine from one row to the next.
With the GPS extension, the user benefits from assisted teachin.
- start into the first row
- system will show an A-B line as suggestion on your mobile device
- accept A-B line and define row width and number of transpositions
- system will compute A-B lines for your parcel
- you are ready to work
The best thing about assisted teach-n-repeat: next time you come to the same parcel, just load previous settings and get going!
For more complex situations you may want to define every detail yourself. This is no problem! You just create a Teachin Parcel, hit the [Teachin] button and drive the whole working process by hand. You may even do that from the driver’s seat to have optimal control over all functions of the machine.
When you’re done stop teachin and save the parcel. Next time the machine can complete the whole process while you are comfortable and safe in your tractor supervising the machine.
Row Crop Pilot communicates to the machine’s ECU (eletronic control unit) via CAN bus to control all relevant functions. That is not limited to the tracks, also implement control is supported:
- mounted sprayer for plant protection (selective spraying left and right; automatic activation at row entry and shutdown at the end of the row)
- Braun’s VPA-enabled tool carriers for under-vine cultivation (width adaptation for optimal work result in soil treatment, vine trunk cleaning and many more!)
- Braun’s VPA-enabled Mulcher Alpha 2000 light (width adaptation for optimal mowing result)
The machine is equipped with two laser scanners for environment perception.
The sensor mounted downhill is mounted at the top of the machine. That way, the sensor sees the row from a birds perspective for optimal row guidance while leaving space for various types implements.
The sensor mounted uphill at the winch, is mounted lower to have an optimal view on vine trunks for precise steering of VPA-enabled implements.
