Weinbau 4.0: Robot Makers are partner of flagship initiative

On April 14, 24 flagship initiatives in the state competition “RegioWIN 2030 – Regional Competitiveness through Innovation and Sustainability” were awarded prizes at a virtual event organized by the Ministry of Economics of Baden-Württemberg. Robot Makers GmbH is a partner in the project Weinbau 4.0 (Viticulture 4.0), which deals with a future-proof and sustainable wine industry.

The flagship initiative Weinbau 4.0 is intended to sustainably advance traditional viticulture in various fields of the future. Our focus is on the future field of automation of recurring maintenance work, an important subarea of smart farming. This should result in time and cost savings, improved occupational health and safety, and increased added value.

The project is also working on automation with drones, photovoltaic systems in the vineyard (Viti-PV) and digitalization (including land management). The establishment of a regional competence center “Weinbau 4.0” is also on the agenda. This is intended to bundle technological know-how and accumulated practical experience at a central location.

The Weinbau 4.0 project is part of a joint application by the districts of Ortenau, Emmendingen, Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, Lörrach and Waldshut and the city of Freiburg. The application process was successfully coordinated by the non-profit association “Strategic Partners – Climate Protection on the Upper Rhine” (Klimapartner Oberrhein).
